Your Reflection
Others are a reflection of ourselves.
That’s why we naturally gravitate towards people that reflect the parts of us that we like.
And why we actively try to distance ourselves from those that reflect the things we don’t like about ourselves.
And this is what makes work environments so interesting.
And challenging.
You’re guaranteed to need to interact with people that, given a choice, you’d normally avoid.
These people are your mirrors.
Use them to learn and grow.
Enquire within as to what it is about them that you find so difficult.
Sometimes it’s something as simple as them having a resemblance to someone from the past.
Recognising this often allows the resistance to them to fall away.
And sometimes it’s something deeper.
Something about them elicits an emotional response in you that seems to have no logical connection.
‘There’s just something about them that I can’t stand!’
Become curious about this person.
Explore what it is exactly that is creating your strong emotions.
Know at a fundamental level that you are always safe and free to explore your feelings.
And know that when you do, you’re deepening your understanding of yourself.
You’re freeing yourself from old patterns that were created to keep you safe, but are ready to be seen and released now.
That’s why they’re showing up.
They’re a gift.
So treat them as such.
Be grateful.
And be excited about what you might discover.
(And if I’m that person for you right now…you’re welcome 😎)
